Old Yancha Brick 2007

Tea – Aged Yancha Wulong (circa 2007)
Origin –Wuyishan (Ban Yan)

This conveniently shaped chocolate bar style brick can offer a taste of aged yancha. Each brick is around 100g in weight and has 12 square pieces of circa 8.3g quite easy to snap apart.

The price is for 50g (6 square pieces or half the brick).

Being a blend, there aren’t many informations about the material but we don’t think it matters too much to know precise age and which cultivars were used. The tea has strong  “chen” (陈 old) flavor and is really nice to drink with a cozy and comfortable aged feeling.

Boiling this tea is  recommended to bring out the aged flavors warming you up for many brews.

Price is for half brick, or 6 individual square pieces, circa 50 g.
(To receive a complete brick you have to buy two of this item. Note that these bricks are quite fragile and it is likely it will not arrive in one piece)

Additional information

Weight 50 g
Name

Lao Yan Cha (老岩茶) means "old yancha" (yancha 岩茶 is literally cliff tea and is this kind of wulong tea) and is a name that can indicate any aged yancha.

The brick has the characters "暖胃" impressed, literally meaning stomach warming. It likely refers to traditional chinese medicine. I am not sure about anything related to medicine but can be interpreted to how mild and easy to drink is aged tea compared to fresh one.

Being a blend the material might not all be from 2007. Take it as an indication rather than truth set in stone.

Brewing Tips

This tea can be brewed normally in a gaiwan but is especially good boiled. To prepare boiled tea just simmer the leaves in plenty of water for around 15 minutes. Both brewing methods can be tried together for example trying a few infusions in the gaiwan and then moving the leaves to simmer.

This tea can make many infusions therefore its recommended to have enough time to dedicate to it.

We suggest to discard a rinse of this tea since we don't know where its been.

Packaging

The tea comes in a bag.
