Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2020
Origin – Xingcun, Wuyishan (Banyan)
The name Dahongpao is nowadays often used to indicate yancha blends of various grade and quality that might include several cultivars. Dahongpao is a more famous name than Yancha and tied to legends and different teas so it is impossible to define it clearly. If instead of blends we consider cultivar, there is not one “Dahongpao” cultivar but rather a few of them, the Qi Dan and Bei Dou are the names of individual cultivars commonly considered to be propagated from some of the “Dahongpao” famous old bushes that are one of the main tourist attractions of Wuyi mountain scenic park.
This is one of those varieties, a pure unblended Qidan tea that is well processed and can be appreciated for its character. With a nice huigan (sweet aftertaste) and an interesting fragrance from the leaves, this tea is both a pleasure to drink and a chance to try out what is ultimately the flavor of tea made purely from one of the Dahongpao cultivars.
Price is for 50 g.
