Shengtai Rougui 2023
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2023
Origin – Xingcun Wuyishan
Shengtai means something like biodiversity. This style of farming is a bit different from the usual. In 2021, the farmer took what was a previously normal tea garden and decided to grow tea avoiding any kind of pesticides and herbicides, just letting the tea garden grow in a more “wild” way. The only product used is a fertilizer derived from rape seeds.
Rougui is one of the most beloved Yancha cultivars combining depth of flavor and aromatics that can change and reflect specific terroirs making each Rougui different. Rougui is always one of our best selling teas.
Shengtai Rougui 2023 is a smooth tea with nice flavors. The tea is well processed and it has one charcoal roasting. This lighter processing lets the Rougui aromatics and complexity come out even stronger while still retaining a nice and clean aftertaste. A nice tea for any occasion.
We decided to offer this tea in two versions: one or two charcoal roastings. This is the one roast version but you decide what style you prefer!
Price is for 50 g.

Qidan 2022 – Dahongpao
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2022
Origin – Xingcun, Wuyishan (Banyan)
The name Dahongpao is often used for Yancha blends of various grade and quality that might include several cultivars. Dahongpao is a more famous name than Yancha and tied to legends and different teas so it is impossible to define it clearly.
If instead of blends we consider cultivar, there is not one “Dahongpao” cultivar but rather a few of them, the Qi Dan and Bei Dou are the names of individual cultivars commonly considered to be propagated from some of the “Dahongpao” famous old bushes that are one of the main tourist attractions of Wuyi mountain scenic park.
This tea is made from one of those cultivars: a pure unblended Qidan that is well processed and can be appreciated for its character. A classic balanced and cozy tea with a nice charcoal roast, and subtle aromatics and sweetness expressing the cultivar character. This can be both a nice tea for any occasion with a bit deeper flavor profile and a more subtle fragrance but also an interesting experience for those curious to try one of the famous Dahongpao cultivars.

Horse Pillow Rougui 2023 – Zhengyan
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2023
Origin – Ma Zhen Feng, Zhengyan
This Rougui comes from the Zhengyan protected area of Wuyishan. Due to the impervious nature and small size of this area, the tea produced here is not a large amount. Zhengyan tea, especially Zhengyan Rougui, is highly prized because this terroir can give tea a special flavor called Yan Yun, a name that can be translated as the “melody of the cliffs”.
Some teas you can drink lightly, some are so rich and flavorful that you must give them all of your attention to absorb the complexity of the cup and slowly sip through them in a focused session. Just like you cannot eat a whole meal in a bite but need to savour it slowly.
This is one of those satisfying teas, a blend of complex flavors with a pronounced charcoal roast and the rich fragrance notes of Rougui enriched by Yanyun and cozy roasted depth, that sing the ecstasy of the soul and senses.
Recommended for experienced drinkers. We strongly suggest to save a cup from the very first infusion/rinse aside to drink as last at room temperature.
