Harvest – Spring 2022
Origin – Remote, unknown, nice mountain. Wuyishan.
This tea from Bairuixiang cultivar is grown in a remote and unknown mountain with a nice environment giving it a complex flavor for a relatively reasonable price.
Nice to drink, sweet, and with nice character and lasting aftertaste. The tea was processed without a strong roasting letting the good quality of the material come out fully. There are no overwhelming fragrances or unbalanced features, the tea delivers a rich flavor with aromatic complexity and smooth mouthfeel leaving a pleasant and sweet aftertaste. Horse Pillow Shuixian 2022 – Zhengyan
Tea – Shuixian, Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2022
Origin – Ma Zhen Feng , Zhengyan
Shuixian is one of the most popular cultivars in Yancha. The leaves of Shuixian are slightly bigger than most yancha varieties and it is considered to have a soft and comfortable character combined with nice aromatics.
This tea is made from excellent material, the bushes are what is called Gaocong meaning tall bush, not quite as old as a Laocong old bush but already older than the young bushes and adding to the tea character and mouthfeel a layer of complexity. This tea is also from an excellent location in the Zhengyan area where mineral rich soil gives tea a special flavor.
Now add to the great material a very good processing and you have our Horse Pillow Shuixian that combines the character of shuixian with more layeredand deep flavor notes. The result is a tea with a complex flavor well expressing the Shuixian character and fragrance, with a creamy sweetness, aromatic depth and a smooth mouthfeel. All at a relatively affordable price

Daydream Laocong Shuixian 2022
Tea – Shuixian, Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2022
Origin – High altidude area, Wuyishan
The characteristic of Laocong Shuixian (old bush shuixian) is that is picked only from older trees and this gives it a silky smooth mouthfeel and a special flavor called Congwei, meaning the flavor of bushes. I describe the experience of drinking Laocong Shuixian as walking into an imaginary old bookstore, with a warm and cozy feeling and fragrance.
This Laocong is from a very nice area in the higher elevation parts of Wuyishan near Tongmuguan. The flavor is intense with the clear Shuixian character and aromatics enriched by the congwei of older bushes as well as a dark, woody and herbal sweetness. It reminds me a bit of chewing a herbal candy. The processing is more on the balanced side with a medium charcoal roast that leaves a lot of space to the tea flavors lingering in the long aftertaste.
A tea that is always enjoyable for a richer session of one that can be compared to other Shuixian available for those wanting to explore this cultivar more in depth.
