Gemstone Rougui 2021 – Zhengyan
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2021
Origin – Bi Shi Yan , Zhengyan
From the protected area where the tea called Zhengyan is from, this Rougui is a bit harder to describe than usual so forgive me if it sounds a bit strange.
The first thing you can notice of this tea is that the mouth feel is so smooth it reminds me of the sound an owl makes flying: complete silence as it glides through the air without moving it. A distracted drinker might not even notice and drink a whole session without realising it. Those looking for loudness and explosive fragrance might be disappointed.
For those paying attention and who appreciate quiet and intense teas however, this Rougui can be a gem: while appreciating the excellent mouthfeel the depth of flavor hits deep inside, lasting yun and charcoal roasted aftertaste deliver a very sweet finish that is never boring. It has a kind of understated elegance like classical beauty, extremely satisfying to experience whenever I have the time for it.
Recommended for experienced drinkers. We strongly suggest to save a cup from the very first infusion/rinse aside to drink as last at room temperature.
Price is for 50 g.
Sanyangfeng Rougui 2021 – Zhengyan
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2021
Origin – San Yang Feng, Zhengyan
An exceptional Zhengyan Rougui with a very limited production and availability, compared to regular growing conditions, the yield of these plants for the area is extremely low and therefore has a pretty steep price. I think however drinking this tea reflects this concentration of flavor.
This tea is a powerful and intense experience filled with complex flavors and aromatics. It is rare to find a tea with such strength in every aspect. The clear expression of the cultivar and terroir are highlighted by the excellent processing and the deep charcoal roasting balances even further the tea that manages to be both extremely aromatic and extremely flavorful. A tea that commands attention for many steeps.
We suggest this to our long term customers and experienced drinkers, as usual we strongly recommend to save a cup from the very first infusion/rinse aside to drink as last at room temperature.

Voyage 2021 Bairuixiang
Tea – Bairuixiang Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2021
Origin – Remote, unknown, nice mountain. Banyan.
This tea from Bairuixiang cultivar is grown in a remote and unknown mountain with a nice environment giving it a rich flavor for a relatively reasonable price.
Nice to drink, sweet, and with clear character and aftertaste. The tea was processed without a strong roasting letting the good quality of the material come out fully. There are no overwhelming fragrances or unbalanced features, the tea delivers a rich and cozy flavor and smooth mouthfeel with mild aromatics that leaves a pleasant and sweet aftertaste. An example of good quality material with lighter processing.
Hard to dislike and fun to discover.
Price is for 50 g.
Bon Voyage
Dongpian Huangguanyin 2023
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Autumn 2023
Origin – Xingcun, Wuyishan
Huangguanyin is a cultivar that is gaining many fans every year mainly thanks to its nice aromatics. Some describe it as having also a sweet milky aroma.
Dongpian literally meaning “winter leaves” is a name that designates the tea picked in the autumn/winter season.
Huangguanyin Dongpian 2023 is a bright and light tea. Dongpian tea doesn’t have the depth and body of spring picked tea but it has plenty of fruity, almost citrusy fragrance and a much lower price. A playful tea that expresses well the cultivar character and flavors naturally present in the tea leaves.
The tea is well processed in the “fragrance” style of lighter roasting. Refreshing and light to drink, with bright aromatics and a slight astringency in the later steeps. A bright day of spring in a cup.
Price is for 50 g.

Metamorphosis Laocong Shuixian 2020 – Zhengyan
Tea – Shuixian, Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2020
Origin – Huan Gu Yan, Zhengyan
This is one of the most complex, deep and fulfilling teas we have for sale. A rich and calming experience that only laocong shuixian can offer, and only lacong shuixian of this level. Smooth, full of congwei flavor this tea can be brewed many times with a deep, cozy charcoal roasting and a sweet aftertaste.
The characteristic of Laocong Shuixian (old bush shuixian) is that is picked only from older trees and this gives it a silky smooth mouthfeel and a special flavor called Congwei, meaning the flavor of bushes. I describe the experience of drinking Laocong Shuixian as walking into an imaginary old bookstore, with a warm and cozy feeling and aromatics I would never want to leave.
We recommend this tea to experienced drinkers and suggest to try boiling it.
